Carambola’s Journey: Celebrating 21 Years of Nutritious Success

A Milestone Celebration

Reflecting on our 21-year journey, we remember the humble beginnings and the excitement of serving our first nutritious meals to schoolchildren in Limerick. One of the key milestones in our journey was our involvement in the Hot School Meals Project. This initiative, developed in collaboration with the Minister for Social Protection aimed to provide a hot meal daily to children in schools where there are no kitchen facilities. We started in our home city of Limerick, where 27 children enjoyed their first healthy, nutritious cold lunch provided by Carambola in 2003 to 2019. when the Pilot Project for Hot School Meals was announced Carambola became the first company in Ireland to serve the first ever hot meal to children under the scheme in Our Lady of Lourdes NS in Goldenbridge in Dublin. The positive impact on their attention spans and concentration levels was immediately evident. Today, Carambola serves thousands of students across Ireland, ensuring that every child receives the balanced nutrition they need to thrive in their educational environment.
